Debi's new CD "The Soprano" was on the first ballot nomination for a Grammy in the Best Pop Vocal category, and has been nominated for 4 Washington DC Area Music Awards (Wammies) including Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Vocalist.

The Washington Post says: "Debi Smith's new album catches the eye and pleases the ear... Heavenly... seraphic vocals... shortly after 'The Soprano' was released, word came that it was being considered for a Grammy nomination. It shouldn't take more than one or two spins to understand why."

"A multi-instrumentalist with a three-octave vocal range, Debi Smith writes songs with the craftsmanship of an artisan and the insight of a poet” (All Music Guide).  Debi has recorded nineteen albums and compilations, including four solo recordings for which she has won seven Wammies (Washington, D.C. Music Awards), six ASCAP composer awards, American Music Festival Awards, and American Library Awards. Her songs have been recorded by a growing number of artists, including Tom Paxton. She has appeared at theatres across the U.S., and on such radio and television programs as Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion" and "CBS Sunday Morning." She is a long-standing member of THE FOUR BITCHIN' BABES, and half of the sibling duo, THE SMITH SISTERS.
